Wolfert Brederode Trio

Wolfert Brederode - piano
Gulli Gudmundsson - double bass
Eric Ineke - drums

The members of the Wolfert Brederode Trio had their first stage appearance in 1995, followed later by concerts in clubs in The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Poland and Iceland. The trio also appeared at festivals such as a.o. the North Sea Jazz Festival. Their debute cd Alternate Views was released on the Dutch label A-Records. Both press- and audience have remarked the trio's subtle musical communication and the tight group-sound. In 2004 the trio released En Blanc et Noir #9 which also features Dutch saxophonist Jasper Blom, on the label Daybreak. Compositions by both Gulli and Wolfert, standards and free playing all fuse in the trio's broad and characteristic idiom.

Bassist Gulli Gudmundsson is a close associate of Wolfert over the last decade, sharing their music in numerous projects. Their interplay has once been described as 'telepathic' by a critic. Gulli is a melodic player with a warm, distinctive sound. Projects in which he recently is involved are Eric Vloeimans? Gatecrash, Vansina, Vanbruggen & Gudmundsson or VVG, Futhark and his own group Binary Orchid, where he also experiments with electronics. Gulli appeared with a.o. Nathalie Loriers, John Marshall, Magic Malik, Stephan Galland, Nelson Veras and Jesse van Ruller.

Eric Ineke is one of Europe's most accomplished drummers, having been on the jazz-scene for over three decades. In this trio Eric plays in a non-emphasized, free way without ever gettig vague. He has been performing and recording with artists such as Joe Henderson, Chet Baker, Dexter Gordon, Shirley Horn and Jimmy Raney to name a few. He was a member of the Rein de Graaff/Dick Vennik Quartet and the Charles Loos Quintet and the Ben van de Dungen/Jarmo Hoogendijk Quintet. Recently Eric founded his own ensemble JazzXpress.
