The idea to
start up a duo project together arose at a jazz festival in France
where Joost and Wolfert were playing a concert in a larger ensemble.
The musicn of this duo is a versatile mix of compositions by both
Wolfert and Joost, originals and improvised music. Apart from
contributing music to an audio version of the internationally
acclaimed book Schaduwkind (Shadow Child) from Dutch writer
P.F. Thomése, they will release their first duo-cd 'One' in
October 2006 at the label Jazz in Motion.
Joost Lijbaart is highly active performer on
the international scene, playing a.o. with the Yuri Honing Trio, Agog,
Group of Friends, Orient Express and Wired Paradise. His mastering of
styles ranges from African ethnical music to jazz and improvised music
and he has been rewarded several prizes such as 'Best drummer' at the
European Jazz Contest in '93 and 'Best soloist' at the Dutch Jazz
Competition 2002.
